Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of perceived feasibility and desirability on the entrepreneurial intentions of sports science students. The present study employs a descriptive-survey research method. The statistical population consists of all sports science students in Iran. A cluster sampling method was used, followed by simple random sampling, and the sample size was determined as 389 participants using Cochran's formula. The instrument used in this study was based on the standard questionnaire developed by Shapero and Sokol (1982). The face and content validity of the questionnaire were confirmed by experts and specialists, and its construct validity was verified through structural equation modeling (SEM). To assess reliability, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated, yielding a value of 0.952. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software, and PLS3 software was used to design the structural equation model and test the hypotheses. Based on the findings of this study, perceived feasibility significantly influenced the entrepreneurial intentions of sports science students. Additionally, perceived desirability had an impact on the entrepreneurial intentions of sports science students. Finally, perceived desirability had a significant and positive effect on entrepreneurial intentions through perceived feasibility. According to the findings of this study, to enhance the entrepreneurial intentions of sports science students, it is essential to focus on the identified determinants. By doing so, entrepreneurship in sports can be further promoted.
